How we
improve
Handwriting?
Step 1 : Correcting the posture
- Feet flat on the floor
- Thighs parallel to floor and knees at a 90 degree angleBack up
- straight, inclined towards the desk and pivoted from the hips
- Forearms resting on desk with elbows level with the desktop at
- 90 degrees
- Paper stabilised with non-dominant handNeck and shoulders
- relaxed
- Body faces desk squarely so non-dominant arm can support
- body weight
- Paper tilted to the up to the right (if right handed) or up to the
- (if left handed)
Step 2 : Holding the pen/pencil
- Give child a triangular pencil
- Let them grip other items
- Gloves made with socks
- Draw something on the fingers and palm
- Give some dots on the pencil
- Use smaller pencils
- Teach them to pinch
- Make them hold something with their little finger and ring finger
- Use an elastic band
- Use an adapter or a special pen
Step 3 : Correcting book position
Writing paper can be angled between 20-45 degrees to the left (anticlockwise)
for right-handed children and between 30-45 degrees to the
right (clockwise) for left-handed children. Handwriting specialists tend
to have a slightly different view on the best paper position angle of the
slant. Try different angles to see which is most comfortable and makes
writing seem easier.
